Provence Poppies

In French, poppies are "coquelicots". As a child, my first understanding of a miracle came when I carefully tore open a fuzzy pod, only to watch what seemed like yards of crumpled paper-thin petals slowly unfurl, as they freed themselves from their tight little cocoon. How was it that they never got tangled up in their tiny chamber, that they never blended together as they formed? A bright red coquelicot is truly a miracle of creation!
