The Golden Hour

This is Cape Disappointment, on the WA. Pacific Coast. The usually brown cliffs turn gold at sunset. The scene is too dramatic to be painted softly with brushes, so I decided to give the rocky cliffs a palette knife treatment which gave them a more lively texture. The brilliant sunset makes me dream of wide horizons.

This painting is framed in a chunky driftwood frame with liner.
